Mother

Mother- Maxim Gorky was a Russian writer who pioneered the socialist realism literary style of writing. He was a political activist and was highly inspired by the Marxist movement. His magnum opus, Mother, is considered to be one of the greatest classics of world literature and has been translated into many languages. It revolves around the story of a hard-working peasant woman who faces domestic assaults by her good-for-nothing husband and has been burdened with the upbringing of her son. A revolutionary tale of the struggles of an uneducated woman, Mother raises the suppressed voices of the working-class people and depicts the power of the dignity of an individual. An emotional treat to the soul, the book shows the protective and selfless concerns of a mother for the crushed spirit of her people.
